Dracula | Rotten Tomatoes (1) TIME Magazine An exciting melodrama, not as good as it ought to be but a cut above the ordinary trapdoor-and-winding-sheet type of mystery film. Oct 15, 2008 Full Review Dracula | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Variety Staff Variety A sublimated ghost story related with all surface seriousness and above all with a remarkably effective background of creepy atmosphere. Oct 7, 2008 Full Review Dracula | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Dave Kehr Chicago Reader The opening scenes, set in Dracula's castle, are magnificent -- grave, stately, and severe. But the film becomes unbearably static once the action moves to England. Sep 25, 2007 Full Review Dracula | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Carson Timar ClapperCast Bela Lugosi is Dracula! Robert Very cool to see a classic film on the big screen, hopefully they do this all the time with movies I never got to see in theaters Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/23 Full Review William S This is the standard that all Dracula portrayals are compared to. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/04/24 Full Review David K This is absolutely one of the iconic films in cinema history and Lugosi's role as the Count is, likewise, one of its iconic roles. From the cinematography to the acting...all splendid. Any criticisms that disparage the film are probably coming from people without any historical perspective or appreciation. Discard them and watch this movie. You won't be scared but you will appreciate the film's beauty and tone.
